India's Right to Education Act: A Landmark in Education

Empowering Children with the Gift of Knowledge

The Right to Education Act (RTE) of 2009 marks a significant milestone in India's educational landscape, ensuring free and compulsory education for all children aged 6 to 14 years.

Enacted on 4 August 2009, the RTE Act provides a comprehensive framework to guarantee equal access to quality education for children from all walks of life. It is a fundamental right under Article 21-A of the Indian Constitution, making education indispensable for every child's growth and development.

The RTE Act mandates that every child between the ages of 6 and 14 years is entitled to free and compulsory education, regardless of their background or circumstances. This includes children from disadvantaged groups, such as those with disabilities, girls, and children from marginalized communities.

The Act prohibits any form of discrimination in education, emphasizing the need for an inclusive approach. It also safeguards children from being expelled or held back based on their academic performance or any other reason.
