Filip Misolic advances at Roland Garros
Austrian wins five-set thriller
Filip Misolic has progressed to the second round of the French Open for the first time after defeating American qualifier Michael Mmoh in a five-set thriller on Tuesday.
The Austrian, who is ranked 142nd in the world, triumphed 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in a match that lasted three hours and 39 minutes.
Misolic, who is making his debut at Roland Garros, saved two match points in the fifth set to secure the victory. He will face either 10th seed Cameron Norrie or wildcard Manuel Guinard in the next round.
The 21-year-old is one of several young players who have impressed at this year's French Open. He is the youngest player to reach the second round of the men's singles since 2015.
